David Berkowitz was arraigned in the Criminal Court of New York, County of Kings on August 11, 1977 on charges of murder in the second degree, attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon, and was represented by attorneys Phillip Peltz and Leon Stern; the prosecution was represented by DA Eugene Gold and Assistant DA Ronnie Aiello. Berkowitz was charged with killing Stacey Moskowitz and injuring Robert Violante with a .44 caliber revolver on July 31, 1977.
