In late April 2024 I requested the files related to the murder of Kathy Devine from the Thurston County Sherrif’s department in Washington state, and they finally got around to getting them to me at the end of June. I shouldn’t be so salty, I’m very thankful they were willing to send them to me. Included in the information was a bunch of newspaper articles about Kathy, and I almost didn’t include them because most of them I found on newspapers.com (and are in my article), but it was important that I release Kathy’s case file in it’s entirety. They did tell me that sometime in August additional information will be ‘made available’ so… that’s also exciting.

Another Bundy Blog. 
Alison Lynn Caufman obituary come up under your blog, but when I hit continue, it is for Katherine.
Alison was my best friend. I know where she is buried.
I reopened her case in early 2000. She was strangled to death and found naked in Blue Lake Park in east Portland, OR.
Her only identifying thing to find out who she was, she had a necklace with a small wood piece that had AC carved on it.
The last thing I was told by Portland Police after I reopened her case was, they had lost her DNA sample.
It was years later that I discovered she was listed as one of Ted Bundy’s killings.
I know where she was going to a bar b que in her neighborhood. She was too afraid to hitch hike alone.
Alison’s case is till unsolved from June 21, 1973. The evidence was lost and they would not go any further.
Look at Ted Bundy’s time line. His first known kill was in late 1973 in Washington State when he attended Law School.

Sometimes my articles come up weird in Google, I’m so sorry. I haven’t written a straight article about Alison yet, but I talked about her in a bunch of other ones. The weirdest thing is, Kathy wasn’t even from Oregon, she was from Washington so why she came up in her piece baffles me. Do you think you’d be willing to answer some questions for me about Alison?

Karen, my mother was one of Alison’s good friends and knew a lot about the case. I’d prefer not to go into too many details on a public forum but it affected her deeply and I believe still does.
I actually requested the police file at the beginning of this year because I wanted to know if there was anything else that could’ve been done or maybe something was missed that could solve it. From what your message says that likely isn’t the case.
